USS Oregon on a diplomatic visit to China

USS Oregon in China

USS Oregon "showing the flag" in China in the early part of the twentieth century. The main batteries are covered by awnings to protect the crew from the heat. Note that the funnels (smokestacks) have been raised since the Spanish-American War. Compare this photo to the 1898 photo on the home page.
