Named for Admiral Henry Braid Wilson, former Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy, 1921 to 1925.

Armament - Two 5"/54cal MK42 Mod 10 Gun Mounts, One Mk 16 ASROC Launcher, Two Mk 32 Torpedo Tubes, One Mk 11 Tartar Missile Launcher.

Commissioned - 17 December 1960

Noted accomplishment - Participated in the Cambodian and Vietnamese evacuations and recovery of the SS Mayaguez in 1975. Also the first of the Adams class launched.

Status - Decommissioned on 02 October 1989.
