Below is a listing
of all American battleship and their fates. It was navy policy
to name battleships after states of the union with the only exception
being the USS Kearsage (BB 05). Today, missile submarines
are named after states.
The history of the modern American big gun ship begins with the USS Maine, which was later sunk in Havana Harbor, Cuba which propelled the United States into a war with Spain and ends with the two Iowa class battleships (USS Missouri and USS Wisconsin) that served in Operation Desert Storm. The USS Oregon is part of the proud legacy of American battleships.

Name: Ships name; Names that appear in bold are the class leaders, i.e. Indiana (BB-01) is the lead ship for Massachusetts (BB-02), and Oregon (BB-03).
Designation: Ships hull number
War/Service: Major war are service provided during ships life. Abbreviations: S-A = Spanish-American War; GW = Great White Fleet; WW I = World War I; WW II = World War II; K = Korean Conflict; RV = Vietnam War; PG = Persian Gulf War (Desert Storm)
Length of Service: Date of commissioning to date of decommissioning.
Final Disposition: Fate of the ship. Memorial indicates that the ship is fully intact and can be toured (Exception is the USS Arizona). Treaty indicates the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922-1923. Treat II indicates the London Naval Treaty of 1930. Reserve indicates inactive reserve fleet.
Disposition Notes: Amplifying information on the final disposition. Treaty indicates the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922-23. Test target indicates ship was used as a target for weapons test including naval gunfire, aerial bombs, and atomic weapons.

Notes-
Note 1- USS Mississippi (BB-23) and USS Idaho (BB-24) was sold and transferred to the Greek Navy as coastal defense ships. Both were sunk by the German Air Force in World War II while in port.
Note 2- USS Utah was reclassified as a Mobile Training Target Ship (AG) in order to meet compliance with the London Naval Treaty of 1930. Ship was at Pearl Harbor on Dec 07, 1941. She was hit by a torpedo during the attack, rolled over, and sank.
Note 3- Sunk as a gunnery target ship in order to meet compliance with the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922. She was near 80 percent complete when she was canceled.
