BB-1
Above: A photograph of the USS Indiana in the
Brooklyn Navy Yard after returning from Cuban waters during the
Spanish-American War. Note the more decorative figurehead on the
bow.
Above: An excellent photograph of the forward thirteen
inch turret on the USS Indiana. To the right of the photograph
is the forward port eight inch turret. Note on the forward superstructure
the mahogany pilothouse and above the open air bridge. Below the
pilothouse are three viewing ports. This is the armored bridge
where the ship can be steered from during battle.
