Above: This particular uniform item is a medal suspension bar. When ships were involved in campaigns or conflicts and the government issued medals for that particular campaign, the crew that participated would received medals. To identify the ship that crewmember was attached to that received the medal, an identification bar with the ships name would be issued. The suspension bar would be attached to the top of the medal.
